Family Fun in Georgia
From the World's Largest Aquarium to the state of the art Sea Turtle Centre, from the thrilling Six Flags theme park to Okefenokee Swamp Park, from the World of Coca-Cola to panning for gold in Dahlonenga - Georgia has something exciting on offer for the whole family. Award winning museums and golf courses just add to the vast array of activities families can explore and enjoy.
Georgia’s State parks are great for outdoor family activities, from water based recreation on pristine lakes or rivers, to hiking along wilderness trails and camping under stars.
During Spring, Cherry Blossoms and Dogwoods explode into bloom and two festivals celebrate this. The Atlanta Dogwood festival is a three day open air event that includes music, art and fashion shows held in Piedmont Park with a vast array of food and drinks stalls providing a superb venue for family fun and activity. Each March, Macon becomes a pink cotton-spun paradise of delight as over 300,000 Yoshino cherry trees bloom in all their glory. And for 10 days, festival-lovers are treated to one of the most extravagant displays of springtime colour in the nation as they visit the town referred to by Congressional Records as the Cherry Blossom Capital of the World. The Macon Cherry Blossom Festival has something for all the family - from street parties, hot air balloon races, parades, international ‘Kaleidoscope of Cultures Event’ to a fantastic firework finale, all against the backdrop of the cherry trees in full bloom.
