Even More Festivals in Louisiana

Louisiana has more festivals than there are days in the year to celebrate them. Crawfish, strawberries, shrimp, petroleum, frogs, mud and oysters each have their very own celebration. Parades devoted to national holidays as well as regional ethnicities are constantly on the roll. Regardless of the time of year or where you are in Louisiana a “fait-do-do” isn’t far away.

Natchitoches’ Festival of Lights in December illuminates the Red River in December; March welcomes St. Patrick parades in New Orleans, Baton Rouge and Slidell as well as the Tennessee Williams Literary Festival, home to the annual Stella! Shouting Contest. In April the Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival and Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival are popular pastimes. May presents the Ruston Peach Festival. In July the Essence Festival heats up in New Orleans, followed by the New Iberia Sugar Cane Festival in September.
