Day
1 & 2: Atlanta
Pick up your hire car on arrival in the "Olympic" capital
of the Peach Tree State. Visit the road to Tara Museum from Gone with
the
Wind, the Carter Presidential Centre, the World of Coca Cola Pavilion
or the CNN Center. Explore Underground Atlanta for good food and great
live
entertainment.
Day 3:
Atlanta to Chattanooga

Travel through the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains to Chattanooga
and visit the remarkable Tennessee Aquarium, take a cruise on the river,
or shop for bargains at the Warehouse Row factory outlet store. Spend time
on Lookout Mountain,
ride the Incline Railway, explore Point Park, the site of "The Battle Above the Clouds" in
1863 and visit Ruby
Falls and Rock City Gardens.
Day 4: Chattanooga to Lynchburg to Tupelo

Cross the Cumberland Plateau and stop awhile in Lynchburg at the Jack
Daniel's Distillery for a fascinating tour of the oldest
registered distillery in the USA. Drive the back roads of Tennessee to
join the scenic Natchez Trace
Parkway, an historic trail originally "traced out" by buffalo
and later used as a trading route. In Tupelo you can visit the humble
two-room birthplace of Elvis, the Elvis Presley Memorial Chapel and the
Elvis Presley
Museum.
Day 5: Tupelo to Oxford

Oxford is the home of Nobel Prize-winner William Faulkner and the historic
University of Mississippi, known as Ole Miss. Its town square, a scene
from a Norman Rockwell painting, is alive with shops, restaurants and galleries.

6 & 7:
Oxford to Memphis

Drive across North Mississippi to Memphis, home of the Blues and birthplace
of Rock 'n' Roll. Visit Graceland, Elvis' beloved mansion, see his two
private jets and the fantastic Automobile Museum. Don't miss the tour at
famous Sun Studio and be sure to see the new Smithsonian Rock
'n' Soul Museum and the Gibson Guitar Factory. Take the monorail to Mud
Island,
the 52 acre park showcasing the mighty Mississippi River and the historic
Peabody Hotel witness the hilarious March of the Peabody Ducks. Then dance
the night away at any of the clubs on historic Beale Street.

8 & 9:
Memphis to Nashville

Drive east across Tennessee to Music City USA but do stop en route at the
Casey Jones Village in Jackson, also home to Carl Perkins of Blue Suede
Shoes fame. In Nashville see the legendary Grand Ole Opry, the $37 million Country Music Hall of Fame and be sure to hear some live music
at a classic honky tonk like Tootsie's Orchid Lounge. Kick up you heels
to the Country sounds at Wildhorse Saloon or take a cabaret dinner cruise
aboard the General Jackson Showboat on the Cumberland River.
Day 10: Nashville to Knoxville to Pigeon Forge

Head for Knoxville on the scenic drive to the Great Smoky Mountains -
America's most visited national park. Attractions en route include the "hidden" city
of Oak Ridge and the Museum of Appalachia. Lunch at Volunteer Landing on
the Tennessee River and stroll the Cradle of Country Music tour around
the Old City of Knoxville. Continue to Pigeon Forge, the small town nestled
in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains that is big on entertainment.
Day 11: Great
Smoky Mountains & Pigeon
Forge
Walk, hike, cycle or ride a horse in the Smokies, one of the largest protected
land areas east of the Rockies. Visit Dolly Parton's celebrated Country
music and entertainment theme park, Dollywood, and shop literally till
you drop at the 200+ factory outlet shops.
Day 12:
Pigeon
Forge to Augusta

Drive the scenic byways from the Smokies to the famed home of US Masters
