Montgomery Whitewater

Montgomery Whitewater is Alabama’s premier outdoor destination - a 120-acre outdoor adventure centre that features a state-of-the-art, man-made whitewater channel system.

The facility offers a unique mix of adventurous outdoor activities, live music, festivals and competitive events designed for all ages and abilities. The complex is located near the intersection of I-65 and I-85 interchange and downtown Montgomery. As only the third of its kind in the United states, Montgomery Whitewater will serve as a signature adventure destination for the South.

Montgomery Whitewater’s massive, recirculating river system is divided into two channels. The Creek and Competition Channels which include class II-IV whitewater activities, or flatwater activities when the channels and rapids are off!

Perfect for beginners to intermediate paddlers and rafters, these channels mimic a natural river. The 2,200-foot-long Creek Channel is designed for a Class II whitewater experience and is an excellent introduction to whitewater. A step up from the Creek Channel is the 1,600-foot-long Competition Channel, an incredible playground for those with more advanced skills and is ideal for even the novice rafter who is looking to take on bigger rapids.

Activities on offer include Whitewater Rafting, Kayaking & SUP, Inflatable Activities and Flatwater Activities.

  • Rafting options are Beginner Rafting (easy), Adventure Rafting (intermediate) and Rodeo Rafting (advanced).
  • Kayaking & SUP options are all at an advanced level. If you’ve got the skills to paddle at least Class II whitewater, then these offer the perfect whitewater paddling experience.
  • The Inflatable Kayaking (also called duckies) is at an intermediate level. If you’re looking to take on the rapids without a guide, you can challenge yourself to the continuous class II+ rapids on the Creek Channel.
  • For those wanting to beat the heat and relax on the water before the channels are turned on, you can take part in some flatwater activities. Sit-on-top of a kayak or stand-up on a paddleboard (SUPs) – a great way to spend time with family and friends before the heat turns up and the rapids are turned on!
