Memphis Botanic Garden is pleased to announce the return of the Cherry Blossom Picnic at the Garden on 19th March. This annual event celebrates spring among the sakura (cherry blossoms) in the MBG’s Japanese Garden.
With asian-inspired food trucks, a guided tour of the Japanese Garden and traditional Japanese crafts and games. All this happens among the beautiful backdrop of blooming cherry trees only the Garden can offer! Attendees can enjoy family friendly activities including creating kimono dolls and koi windsocks and learning shodo name writing and origami. The event also features performances by 901 Taiko, a tea
ceremony demonstration, and guided tours of the Japanese Garden from Horticulturist Robin Howell. Plus KandiKakes and More, King of Bamboo, Memphis Mojo Cafe, Mr.Casas Japanese & Mexican Food, Rice Burner, Sekisui and Soi Number 9 will be on-site for a picnic lunch. A signature cocktail and other spring spirits we’ll be available from the bar.
The Cherry Blossom Picnic is the perfect way to celebrate the start of spring with learning opportunities, hands-on activities, and more. The event is free with Garden admission. This event is in partnership with Japan Outreach Initiative, the University of Memphis, and the University of Memphis Japanese Culture Club.
