Deep South USA Blog

Where history, adventure and flavour collide. This region has been called many things over the years, but now it’s time for them to call themselves what they really are: Louisiana’s River Parishes!

Houmas House & American Queen

A proud community with a rich, diverse and sometimes painful history, they believe it is important to tell these stories as a means of preserving, educating and growing. This is a region where the conflict of the history manifests itself both in the shades of the colours of skin and in their gumbo.

#OutHere, where they tell the whole story. Louisiana’s River Parishes are home to New Orleans Swamp Country, The Andouille Trail, New Orleans Plantation Country, The 1811 Slave Revolt, Perique Tobacco, Bonfire Country and so much more. Over the next few months, they will start rolling out many new initiatives, programs and projects to build a world-class destination.

"Our hope is you’ll agree we are from an area as diverse as any place on our planet, an area with history as deep as the roots of the mighty oaks waiting to be told and rediscovered. These are Louisiana’s River Parishes: where history, adventure and flavour collide. Until we meet again" - Buddy Boe, CLED, CDME, Executive Director, River Parishes Tourist Commission
