Southern Living sure love some Southern barbecue so they asked their readers in their 2013 'Cue Awards for the best rib joints in the South. The 13,000 votes for the best spots feature 11 out of 15 in our Deep South states.

Summer music in the Crescent City
The Essence Music Festival is the largest African American-based music event in the world that attracts more than a half-million people into New Orleans (aka Crescent City). Taking place July 4–7, the festival will reflect the unique blend of cultures that creates Louisiana.
This year's Satchmo SummerFest in New Orleans' French Quarter falls on August 3–5. It is the premier American jazz festival dedicated to the life, music and legacy of the Crescent City's native son, Louis 'Satchmo' Armstrong.
The Bayou Music Festival is on October 5–6, featuring up to 15 local bands and performers from the South Louisiana bayou area with music styles including zydeco, country, rock, pop and more. A range of food is available including jambalaya and grillades.

Paul McCartney sets FedEx Forum on Fire!
After 20 years, Sir Paul McCartney returned to Memphis and FedEx Forum with his 'Out There' tour on Sunday 26th May. Sir Paul also dropped by Graceland before his show to make his first trip to Elvis Presley's grave and left a guitar pick behind 'so Elvis can play in heaven'.
The Scott and Zelda Museum in Alabama's Capital city, Montgomery, is receiving a record number of visitors due to the recent launch of “The Great Gatsby” movie. The film which stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Carey Mulligan was also released here in the UK on 16th May and is the adaptation of American author F. Scott Fitzgerald’s 1925 novel. The museum in Montgomery is the only one in the world dedicated to the Fitzgeralds and is housed in the brick house in Old Cloverdale where the Fitzgeralds lived from 1931 to 1932.

Tour and Taste Georgia's Peaches
Since 1908, Lane Southern Orchards in Fort Valley has planted, grown and harvested over 3,000 acres of the best-tasting peaches in Georgia. You can tour the Farm in June & July, the peak Peach Season, to get a behind the scenes look. The peaches are frozen and used all year round in their famous peach cobbler, peach ice cream and peach bread & butter pudding which are served daily in the Peachtree Cafe.
