Bridging the Blues is a series of blues events taking place around the Mississippi Delta & Memphis from 27th September until 13th October. You can see the schedule which includes events taking place at museums and juke joints, as well as outdoor festivals.
Visitors are also encouraged to explore the region and visit some of the markers on the Mississippi Blues Trail.
Satchmo SummerFest 2013 will take place 2–4 August. Outdoor events include live bands on several stages and feature some of New orleans' top musicians.
Louisiana is the third state for filming movies in the USA and the second annual Lake Charles Film Festival will take place on 4–5 October.
If you love panoramic sunsets you must visit Dauphin Island along the Gulf Coast which has recently been named the Sunset Capital in Alabama.
A feast for your eyes, ears and definitely your palate is the National Shrimp Festival which takes place opposite The Hangout along the Gulf Shores in Alabama every October for 4 days.
The Hummingbird Stage and Taproom, nested in the heart of Macon, is a great place to see the best local, regional and national acts while enjoying a wide selection of beers on tap.
