Let us introduce our Tennessee Rep - Jessica

Jessica has worked with Tennessee Tourism since April 2022, and has worked in the travel industry for 30 years. She has travelled across all of Tennessee, experiencing the amazing Southern cuisine, history, culture, music, and that true Southern hospitality.

Travel is her passion, and anyone that knows Jessica knows she loves to always be arranging that next holiday!

What's your hidden gem or destination highlight?

Outside of the cities like Nashville and Memphis, you’ll find some hidden gems in the small towns of Tennessee. Cookeville is located among outdoor escapes like Cummins Falls, Fall Creek Falls and Burgess Falls State Parks, and where you’ll find festivals, museums, and antique boutiques. Or stop in Leiper’s Fork for a delicious lunch of meat and three - a Southern classic - whilst listening to a live band at Fox & Lock, then browse some galleries or take a tour of Leiper’s Fork Distillery to sample their whiskey. One gem you're guaranteed to find throughout Tennessee is the true southern hospitality and the amazing food.

What's your unique hotel recommendation or top tip?

The Hotel Chalet in Chattanooga is where you sleep on one of the new magnificently restored sleeper deluxe train carriages, you’ll be transported to another era for a truly unique experience. Or have a once-in-a-lifetime experience and live like Dolly by staying in “Suite 1986” at Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort and Spa. The Suite 1986 Tour Bus Experience was Dolly Parton’s tour bus from late 2008 until March 2022 and where she wrote albums, such as “Backwards Barbie” and “9 to 5 the Musical”.

What's a fun activity to do?

For adults, no trip to Tennessee would be complete without visiting a Tennessee Whiskey Distillery! One of the most popular to visit is the Jack Daniel Distillery located in Lynchburg. However, you’ll find 29 distilleries on the Tennessee Whiskey Trail that you can visit across the state. For families, the Great Smoky Mountains is one of the best places to take in nature and family friendly fun, with the thrills in Dollywood (Dolly Parton's theme park) to spotting black bears in the wild.

What's your top travel tip?

If you don’t want to drive between Memphis and Nashville you can use Vonlane, a luxury coach service that offers a luxury travel experience in a 22-seater first-class coach. Onboard you are offered cabin service with snacks and beverages included in your ticket price.

What's your top packing tip?

No matter where you are in Tennessee you’ll be doing a lot of walking whether around museums, exploring the neighbourhoods or hiking in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park so I highly recommend packing comfortable shoes and clothes.

Did you know fact about Tennessee?

Tennessee is the home to seven genres of music - blues, bluegrass, rock n' roll, rockabilly, country, gospel and soul. More songs are written, recorded and played live in Tennessee than anywhere else in the world. You can follow your favourite genre of music on the Tennessee Music Pathways and discover the history, the people and the places behind the music.  No matter what your music tastes are ensure you visit the Grand Ole Opry, you’ll be impressed by the talent you will see performing on one of the most famous stages.
